Techsploration Goes to Work
Spotlight on Opportunities for Women in STEM
At Lockheed Martin Canada we know that efforts to educate and inspire tomorrow’s scientists, engineers and mathematicians is mission critical in maintaining Canada’s innovation and technological advantage.
Our approach to Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) outreach and education embodies our corporate values and commitment to Diversity and Inclusion.
We are proud to recognize and support organizations like Techsploration, dedicated to encouraging equitable access to STEM education and career opportunities. Their tireless efforts to empower young women and non-binary youth to be the next generation of innovators and explorers of science is remarkable.
Recently, we hosted a grade-nine class of young women for a full day event, Techsploration Goes to Work. Our engineers mentored students, describing to them what it is like, as a person who identifies as female, to have a career in STEM. It was an impactful day as this next-generation workforce took what they learned, developed presentations, and then delivered them to a group of fifty participants at a final conference.
Based in Nova Scotia, Techsploration focuses on educational programming to young women and non-binary youth in Grades 9 through 12; helping them explore and understand the significance of math and science for their future careers in science, engineering, trades, and technology-related occupations.
