Lockheed Martin Canada is thrilled to announce that we have invested over $3 million in support of Canadian Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, Military & Veteran causes, and community initiatives since 2014.

Annually we support between 10-15 organizations at the local and national level, and we select two major partners that focus their efforts on STEM education and Military and Veteran support.

This year, we continued our support of long-standing partner ACTUA. Since 2015, we have donated over $600,000 to ACTUA enabling them to further their skills development and outreach programming for underrepresented and underserved populations and vulnerable youth. This includes girls and young women, Indigenous youth, new Canadians, racialized youth, and youth with disabilities.

By increasing youth’s STEM skills, we help increase their confidence in their abilities and increase their future intensions to pursue STEM education and careers, all of which builds youth’s economic potential, ultimately leading to a more diverse and inclusive workforce.

Additionally, in 2021, we partnered with a new organization, the Royal Ottawa Hospital – specifically donating $75,000 to supporting their PTSD research. The results of this research may promote transformative changes in how psychiatrists assess patients and select appropriate treatments.

The findings may also benefit anyone treated for PTSD including active-duty members, veterans, and first responders. Specifically, the study addresses the research gap identified in military mental health in improving treatment for mental health disorders, including PTSD and related disorders.

These organizations reflect Lockheed Martin’s values of supporting STEM education and Military and Veteran initiatives, and we are excited to be partnered with them to help continue their exciting work.
